When I am not working as a wedding florist in Charlottesville, you can find me traveling to far flung places, embracing new cultures, learning new languages (I speak 5!), and eating so much good food. I have been lucky to live all over the world in Italy, China, and Senegal opening my eyes to the beauty and complexity of other cultures and traditions. 

I am a visual artist. My main focus is abstract paintings that draw from personal experience, response to material, and my love of color.  As inventory manager at Gossamer Floral Design, I am able to blend my natural desire for organization and creativity and as a floral designer I imbue my fluency with color into our weddings.

 Flowers have become a new medium with which I create art.

I adore getting to know my couples and figuring out what makes them unique so their wedding can reflect back all those qualities. I believe that weddings are a gift to the guests, of one sublime evening full of beauty, experiences, and thoughtful touches that shows just how important your family and friends are to you.

I started my art education young growing up in Florence, Italy. We would walk past the Piazzale Michelango to get to school and spend our weekends in the halls of the Uffizi Gallery listening to my father lecture on Renaissance artists. My practice in floral artistry is deeply influenced by the art I was surrounded by as a child combined with the Blue Ridge Mountain landscapes that I spent my adulthood in. I am inspired by the colors, textures, and shapes naturally existing in flowers and love to use them to transform a space.

I was raised on an organic farm and grew up helping my folks cultivate produce and flowers for restaurants, markets, and CSA’s.

A fifth generation farmer who is passionate about sustainable agriculture, creative woodworking, and our two tiny dogs Harvey and Eugene.

On wedding days, you can find me carrying all the heavy things. I also custom build all of our structures. We specialize in beautiful wooden arbors, hanging floral installations that float over your dance floor, and interactive escort walls. I love brainstorming with couples who are looking for bespoke built pieces that you won’t find at any other wedding and then bringing those dreams to life

My approach to art

I paint to examine the feelings that render you speechless. The ones that make you feel that you will burst. The ones that are so mundane that they don’t deserve being spoken aloud. It is a thirst for discovery and understanding that fuels me. 
Creating with flowers fuels my creative expression in a similar way. Each design reflects this act of searching all while working in tandem with the flowers themselves itself as the mercurial nature of art demands.
